Joseph G. Dittrich

There are names in my books. What's up with that? Who are these people?

Nice Hannes Bok bookplate. Who is Joseph G. Dittrich? Google!

"Uncle Joe in his Science Fiction Study." Must be the guy!

Am I the only one who looks up bookplate people?

George Strafford Mills

The Works of De Quincey. 1877 Globe Edition.

Who is George Strafford Mills?

Noted Toledo Architect!

Burt's Theatre. 1898. A famous bar in Toledo, designed by Mills after a Venetian palace. Said to have inspired the Kenny Rogers hit "Lucille." "In a bar in Toledo, across from the depot..."

Earle Bettinger and Mrs. Israel Witkower

A Keeler!

To Earle Bettinger from Mrs. Israel Witkower

Presumably the wife of Israel Witkower (1889-1968), proprietor of Witkower's Books in Hartford. I find that one "Earl Bettinger" is the husband of author Lillian Jackson Braun. Is he a Keeler reader? Do Siamese cats connect Braun to Keeler?

Shock! I find that Braun died six days ago at the age of 97. Who knew?!
